Hello Track and Field Lovers. In this article, we are highlighting Arethea Roddy.
The week before her 14th birthday she had a great time with friends and her sisters.
Then right before her 14th birthday (June) she was out getting her nails done with a
friend at a local nail shop. Out of the blue a car came crashing through the
nail salon right through the wall of windows at Arethea. It flung her chair across the room.
Crashed into the salon employee and her friend. The car then proceeded to hit
Arethea again and push her chair into the wall. God had a hand on her. She was taken by
ambulance to the hospital to check on her injuries. Her leg was sore and full of glass.
After weeks of physical therapy she was released to try to run track again.
She qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics (end of July)
in the pentathlon, open high jump, and 4x800 relay. She brought home a medal! Then
came her high school cross country season. She was not able to do the type of base
training needed during the summer due to the accident.
She worked hard and had a successful season.
Entering with excitement into her Indoor season this year. As a freshman, she is trying
to navigate training schedules and extra curricular schedules.
She is an avid participant in FFA and her school theater program.
This brings us to her Texas AM indoor performance in the 800.
She received a lifetime PR and is ready to take on the next opportunities full force.
